After pushing all that time and effort into the ideation process, researching your target market, and narrowing down your niche, this is the part where your efforts start to pay off.
Hence, for your blog to be successful from the start, there are specific steps you need to take to lay the foundation. Correct: Research is also carried out in this phase. If you do not have a good plan of action to launch your blog, things can fall apart during execution.
We’ll walk you through a simple yet comprehensive blog promotion checklist. Read on to learn what you should have when promoting your blog posts and what you can do to safeguard your blog is a long-term success.
How do you Promote your Blog Posts in 20 Different Ways?
1. Create Catchy Titles
The best way to get people to click on your blog articles (both on social media and in organic search results) is to create catchy titles. All you have to do is label the main benefit of your blog content and use the right words. For example, look at the name of this article, “20 Ways to Approve Your Blog.” Describe the main benefit. Yes. This title tells you that by reading this article, you will learn 20 ways to promote your blog, which is very important for every blogger and entrepreneur. Are you using the correct words? Yes, because it is specific. Read the title well: 20 forms. It’s detailed, descriptive (like I said), and enjoyable to click on. Look for that angle in your articles, and your traffic will improve.
2. Use Original or Descriptive Images
Images are a great complement to articles. The more interactive and original your blog is, the better. In my blog articles, I use images to describe what I say whenever possible. Especially in my tutorials. While I have to admit that I don’t use as many images as I’d like (I’m a bit lazy, what do I do with them?), it’s essential to make the article as enjoyable and addictive as possible. Images accomplish this goal.
3. Claim Google+ Authorship
Google Authoring is a great way to promote your blog and build your brand. In turn, author photos tend to increase the CTR of search results, which means you can attract more organic traffic without increasing your ranking. Here is a guide on how to claim your authorship, written by José Galán, which explains precisely how to do it.
Note: Shortly after writing this post, Google removed the author’s photos from search results for the following reasons. However, the “authorship” remains. Therefore, it is considered that associating your Google+ profile with your content continues to weigh the positioning.
4. Link to Other Bloggers
It is unnecessary to build relationships with other bloggers. This is something I will repeat in this article. Relationships are significant. A great way to build relationships is to link to other bloggers in your articles and let them know you’ve done it. The objective is simply that they know you, nothing more. If that blogger shares your content, thank you, or does something unexpected, that’s another matter.
5. Make a List of Influencers
Influencers are famous and respected people within a specific niche. For example, Victor Martín is one of the most critical influencers in the world of social networks, like Tristán Elósegui in web analytics and online marketing. These people have thousands of followers on their social media accounts, which means they have a broad reach in the community. So, if any of these influencers shared your content on social media or their website, you would get an excellent promotion for free. Then to do that, you need to know first who they are. I doubt you know them all. So you need to create an Excel list and list all the influencers you know in your niche. Then start expanding as you find new influencers.
6. Interview these Influencers
Using the list you created earlier, reach out and interview the influencers you think are the best fit for your blog and audience. It is not difficult; you have to contact them through their email account respectfully. Then, when the interview is complete, ask them to share it with their followers and fans. The goal is to get traffic from your followers and fans and build a friendly relationship with that person.
7. Comment on Other Blogs
Blog comments are highly underrated. You best see it as a way to get links to improve rankings. However, comments fulfill many functions that most cannot imagine and that are very important to promote your blog:
- Comments help build a relationship with the blogger in question.
- Comments help you make yourself known within the community or niche.
- Comments add naturalness to your site’s link profile
The key is always to add value. When you leave a comment, think that what you say adds something valuable to the conversation, not something as simple as “What a great article!” and nothing more.
8. Write Guest Posts
If you have not so far entered the world of online marketing, you are probably familiar with the concept of guest articles. Everyone talks about her now. That’s partly because guest posting works and partly because it’s a straightforward tactic. A great tactic that not only serves to get quality links but also allows you to increase your site’s referral traffic (which not many people think). One should always publish quality articles. The higher the blog’s authority, the higher the quality should be (you don’t want to make an enormous deal out of it, do you?).
9. Inviting Third Parties to Participate
This is similar to the previous one but in reverse: if you have contacts or friends with blogs, invite them to join yours. The only requirement is that this contact of yours develops relevant content for your blog and audience. If you have a cooking blog, you wouldn’t want someone (no matter how friendly) writing about online marketing, would you? The more followers and fans that person has, the better your blog will be promoted. Do you understand why I am talking about the importance of relationships?
10. Use “Click to Tweet” to Get People to Share More of Your Content
Click on Tweet is a web application that lets you get people to share your content on Twitter by clicking on a link.
This tactic aims to get your readers to share the most critical and relevant excerpts from your blog articles with minimal effort. Once you enter the application, all you have to do is enter the message and the link of the article in question, and that’s it.
11. Create Attractive Infographics
A countless way to drive more traffic to your blog is to create infographics (also known as infographics). Although infographics have lost some effectiveness in countries like the United States and the United Kingdom (due to the enormous amount of effort that companies have put into them), they still impact this region. The main benefit that infographics bring to your blog is twofold:
On the one hand, people will share it on social networks, thus helping to promote it through this channel.
On the other hand, your fans may publish it on their blogs, which will help position this page in search engines and lead you to promote your blog through the organic channel.
The only requirement to create infographics is that they are of high quality. To do this, make sure you do good research beforehand. And have the infographic created by a professional designer. As I always say, fix it if you need to do something.
12. Share the Content of Your Blog on Social Nets
A fairly obvious question for anyone familiar with social networks: share your content on social networks and ensure you do it often without spam. For example, if you recently published an article on your blog, you would do the following:
On Twitter, try to share your writing more than once to make sure your followers see it
On Facebook, you do it once and no more. If you want the effect to last longer, promote it through Facebook ads (which I recommend in exceptional cases)
Please share it on LinkedIn in professional groups relevant to your blog (only applies to blogs with a professional profile).
Do the same in Google Plus as on Facebook
These are fundamental tips. If you want to see more on this topic, there are many more articles to read here. Never fail to add value to your audience and make it worthwhile. Also, don’t try to sell them anything because that’s a big no on social media.
13. Increase the “Virality” of Your Content
“Virality” is evident by the number of times a particular content is shared on social media. For example, if an article on your blog is tweeted more than 100 times and accepts more than 100 likes, you could say that your paper has gone viral (obviously, these numbers are completely random and individual). Your blog’s virality would help you get a lot of free publicity without much effort. Going viral is more art than science, as countless tactics and strategies will help content go viral. It’s not easy to make content go viral, but some of the most common ways to do it are:
- Use catchy titles (see point #1)
- Use humor
- Usage dispute
- Wear something surprising
- One of the most virtualizable contents is link baits, which I explain in point #19.
14. Tweet over Time
Twitter is a viral social network today. Everybody uses it. However, if your goal is to promote your blog, Twitter is not as effective as many believe. Why am I saying this? Because the “feeds” of Twitter users are usually full of tweets. It is challenging for a tweet of yours to stand out from the rest (unless you use interesting images or are a respected figure in the middle). Unless you send quality, relevant tweets over time, this is one of the most critical keys to promoting your blog on Twitter. An excessive tool that you can use to launch tweets over time is Buffer. Using and configuring this tool is very easy, so I don’t think you will have any problems. Start Commenting three or four times a day as soon as possible, always relevant to your audience.
15. Create a LinkedIn Group
If your blog is aimed at professionals, LinkedIn is a great way to promote it. On the one hand, you could promote your articles in different groups that belong to the industry or niche of your profession. Hence, a better way to accomplish this task is to create a specific group. Here is a decent guide on how to do it.
16. Create a Facebook Page
Facebook Pages (also recognized as “Fan Pages”) is a vital channel for promoting a blog. The key to using your Facebook Page successfully is to think of it as another website unto itself, with only one rule to follow: engage with your fans. It isn’t easy to achieve that. However, if you use them well, you can attract many people who will not only read your blog but also become fans of it.
17. Add a Link to Your Blog on Social Profiles
A straightforward way to get quality links is to add your website URL to social media profiles. For example, I put my URL in the description and (obviously) in the URL field on Twitter. I have the same on Twitter, etc.
Please do the same on as many social networks as possible, as long as it’s relevant. Although these links are “no-follow” (meaning these links don’t give your site “fairness” or “power”), they add a certain naturalness to your link profile and allow you to attract more traffic easily.
18. Create Contests
A countless way to promote your blog and brand is to run contests on social media. You only need one thing: something to give away. In my case, I once ran a game where I gave away a full SEO audit and competitor analysis, a simple audit, and a keyword search. You can give away a product, service (as I did), or anything else you think is worth giving away. Not only will you develop to know your current followers and fans better, but you will also gain new ones.
19. Create Link Baits
Linkbait is “any viral content designed to attract links from the web.” You get that when you write helpful, entertaining, and informative content. The great advantage of link baits is that they are usually straightforward to go viral (see form #15). While they are not always 100% effective (as more and more bloggers and businesses use link bait), they are very good at impacting your niche audience.
20. Talk about Your Blog Everywhere
After all, the most classic and ancient advertising strategy of all. If you want to promote your blog, talk about it everywhere. It’s that simple; these 20 ideas I gave you grew out of this idea: promote your blog wherever and whenever you can. Of course, always do it with respect without losing your place. If there is a being that no one loves, it is the one who always talks about himself. Please don’t be that person.
